We probably don’t need to introduce you to the legendary company that is Burt’s Bees. As one of the most popular brands in the personal care industry, it’s a brand that a lot of people grew up with.
You’ve likely noticed that in the past few years, the clean skincare and beauty industries have taken off and stepped into the public spotlight. Hundreds of new brands dedicated to non-toxic and natural ingredients have popped up during this new wave of clean skincare and beauty. Burt’s Bees, however, has been committed to using only clean, non-toxic ingredients long before it was trendy.
The company was founded 25 years ago in Maine, by Burt Shavitz and Roxane Quimby. Originally, the brand focused on making candles out of leftover beeswax from Shavitz’s honey business. As the company grew, they launched the beeswax lip balms that quickly became their most popular product. It’s rumored that a Burt’s Bees lip balm is sold every second! Now, the company makes over 200 products from skincare, body care, baby products, to haircare.
Most recently, the company launched a full cosmetics line, which is great news for everyone!
Since day one, Burt’s Bees has been committed to only using ingredients that are proven to be safe. The company constantly re-develops their formulas to stay up-to-date with scientific studies to ensure their products are safe. They also strive to make products that are truly affordable so that everyone can make the switch to natural products. Burt’s Bees pioneered what it means to be an accessible, safe, clean brand committed to transparency, consumer health, and the environment (all the packaging is recyclable!). Basically, everything we, at Think Dirty, value most in a brand.
