Native’s Commitment to Clean
Since the debut of the first Native deodorant in 2015, Native has become famous for its effective, aluminium-free formulas. From day one, Native set out to develop one of the cleanest deodorants on the market, using naturally derived ingredients and leaving out aluminium, parabens, and phthalates. With this, they created something magical: a safe and effective deodorant. Flip over Native products, and you will be pleasantly surprised to see that you recognize the ingredients. There are no long and confusing chemical names, and their formulas contain ingredients derived from our beautiful planet. Native’s firm belief that we can take care of our bodies and the planet means Native’s products are never tested on animals and are cruelty-free. Native continues to work toward making the personal care industry cleaner and more sustainable. Native recently introduced a 100% plastic-free packaging line, the first step of many. This crucial step forward will make it a shining example of what it means to be an ethical consumer brand and a pioneer for the industry.
Think Dirty Partners with Native x Walgreens
Walgreens first began to carry Native’s innovative deodorant line in 2019. This marked a significant step towards increased access to affordable clean products at drugstores, which typically do not carry a wide range of clean personal care products. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work alongside both Native and Walgreens and cheer them along as they make waves in the clean beauty movement. Plus, all Native products sold at Walgreens score a 0 rating on the Think Dirty app. Check out Native product listings in-app to find out more about their product ingredients.
More About Native
While the Native journey began with their highly effective deodorants, the brand has since expanded to include a full range of personal care products. Native hair care, body wash, and oral care are becoming household staples and that is just the beginning. A commitment to making their products accessible means you will be able to find Native products in retail locations for affordable prices*. As Native products rack up thousands upon thousands of 5-star reviews, Native is also working toward improving their sustainability efforts and creating new and exciting formulas. At Think Dirty we believe in supporting companies that do good while providing the results you are looking for.
How Think Dirty App Works
If you’re new to our app and want to learn more about Native’s or another brand’s ingredients, let us give you a brief overview of how it works. Think Dirty app runs on a rating scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being the cleanest and 10 being the most toxic. Each ingredient is assigned a dirty meter rating. The overall product rating is an aggregated rating that informs consumers of the overall ingredient safety of the product.
Each ingredient in the Think Dirty app database is thoroughly reviewed by our team, leveraging public data from non-profit groups, government agencies, and peer-reviewed studies vetted by the scientific community. Long-term health impact risks are assessed by documented evidence of carcinogenicity, developmental and reproductive toxicity, and/or allergenicity and immunotoxicity. Each ingredient is then given an associated rating. Ingredient ratings are routinely updated by our chemistry team and advisory board, who all have extensive experience in relevant fields such as biochemistry, biology, and environmental toxicity.
A question that we are often asked is how we rate “Fragrance”. Due to lack of regulation, manufacturers are not required to disclose the components of their fragrances, as this information is considered proprietary. As there is little transparency, fragrance is automatically rated with a rating of 7 or higher in our system. (See why in our breakdown on fragrances). Native, on the other hand, is transparent and uses naturally derived ingredients along with safe synthetic fragrances — which are reflected in their rating in-app. Their commitment to transparency is demonstrated in their carefully formulated products and thoughtful choice of ingredients.
